GLOBAL FORUM-VIRTUAL ACTION LEARNING INTERNATIONAL DISCUSSIONS (VALID) Series
In response to the expressed desire by many of you to continue the learning and sharing of our unique international community of practice, the Global Forum Organizing Team has organized a series of virtual discussions that we are calling Virtual Action Learning International Discussions (VALID). These virtual discussions or VALIDs are with Global Forum community members who have offered to draw from their field of expertise and share their unique perspective of the future and our current dramatic global transformation. We hope to offer presentations to you a learning bridge to the next Global Forum (May) 26-29, 2024 in Berlin (Germany).
VALID No. 22
Achieving the Goals Set by the 26th Global Forum on Strategic Transformations, Leadership and Learning
Description:
Monday, October 2, 2023 | 07:00 - 08:15 EST | 13:00 - 14:15 CET.
The final day of the 26th Global Forum in Barcelona culminated in shared reflections that proposed ways in which we could move the learning and insights gained into personal and community sponsored actions. In this regard, we could not only imagine discussing the ways we could have impact, but also enabling by amplifying and extending our reach by working with and through our Global Forum community members.
Our VALID will be unlike our other virtual community events as it will offer space for any member of the Global Forum community—irrespective of you attended the June 2023 conference- to organize around one (or more!) of the participant generated topics from Barcelona and advance that issue in some meaningful way. Between now and June 2024, the conference organizing team will launch VALID sessions and provide space on the Global Forum website for blogs or vlogs so community members may share their action group’s updates. Ultimately, we look to invite groups to share their actions and learnings during the 27th Global Forum in Berlin 2024.
This experimental approach is designed to harness the energy and interest following the 26th Global Forum in Barcelona and help our global community move to action.
Please join us on Monday, October 2 at 7:00am EST/13:00 CET for a 75-minute VALID session where we’ll hear from an action group that launched during the Global Forum. Ingeborg Molster will share what she, and Global Forum community members Deanna Grams, Bernhard Hauser, Tobias Degsell, Marieke Donkervoort, Bengt Eliasson, Ekaterini Voyatzi, and Birgitte Stjärne have done as a group following Barcelona; the logistics of how they organized themselves; and what they hope to accomplish.
Using Ingeborg’s group as an example of how groups can organize, we’ll invite several community members to share a brief “pitch” of a topic they proposed and then launch breakout rooms for those topics. VALID participants can move between virtual rooms to meet other community members energized by the topic hosted in that breakout room (or request and propose a new breakout group room) and discuss how the group would like to move their issue forward.
The VALID will conclude with groups sharing a draft of their topic title and initial thoughts about goals. The plenary parts of this VALID session will be recorded and shared so other community members unable to attend the session can join a group.
To refresh your memory, we’ve attached the typed post-it notes from the final Global Forum Barcelona reflection session. Below are proposed groups drawn from the notes taken during the entire three-day Global Forum.
