... I was in Stockholm to participate in a global community of practice, established more than 20 years ago by Dr. Yury Boshyk and his colleagues. Having attended one other such meeting of this community of practice in Switzerland 2 years ago, I was excited and energised to return to this group. Now those who know me well, know that ...

Experiences of a first-time Global Forum participant (16th Global Forum | Singapore, 2011)

I came to Singapore not knowing what to expect. I was excited of course, at the opportunity I was getting to attend a global seminar like this, to be speaking in front of the audience and last but not the least, to be setting my feet outside the country ever since having the kids. My ever-supportive husband and kids were ready to be on their own for a few days. I thought it would be a respite for them too to be relieved of the wifely/motherly ‘Do this and don’t do that’s for a while.

I very much appreciated the opportunity to talk about what we are doing and receive feedback from some evidently very bright people. I arrived impressed that you have kept the forum going for so long particularly in an area where the howling winds of change blow away a lot of robust organizations. It was immediately apparent why-- the quality of your participants and the high standards of the proceedings. Equally striking was the homely and relaxed feel you engender. It struck me the minute I arrived. It is diffcult and rare to pull off: laid-back enjoyment and friendliness combined with high professionalism and seriousness.

You have a great community and even in one day I met some really interesting people and came away with a head full of ideas I need to think about in my own business and life!

Thank you for inviting me to participate in this year's Global Forum. I found it both stimulating and interesting. The group was remarkably open and welcoming.

I want to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude for having us at this year's Global Forum. It was a huge learning experience for both of us. It was fascinating to watch the interplay between action learning and the simulation--we enjoyed the discussions and points of view that converged and diverged around that. Special thanks to Chantal and Karl-Georg for an extremely very organized forum--everything goes like clockwork and they have a smile--what a team--they are absolutely superb!
